Ferraris Agricola OPERA PRIMA Ruchè Of Castagnole Monferrato DOCG Riserva 2021
The Ferraris Agricola is an icon in the wine industry landscape of Piedmont. Located in Castagnole Monferrato, in the province of Asti, the company boasts a long tradition in producing high-quality wines, with a particular focus on the indigenous variety Ruchè. Founded in 1921 by Luigi Ferraris, it is now led by Luca Ferraris. Since 1999, they have started vinifying grapes from their own vineyards: they were the first in the Ruchè production area to thin out the vines to enhance quality. Ferraris' vineyards sprawl across privileged lands, characterized by a unique microclimate and excellent sun exposure, imparting exceptional aromatic complexity and structure to the grapes. Vineyard work is carried out with meticulous care and attention, employing sustainable cultivation techniques. The winery is modern and efficient, equipped with the latest technologies for wine production and refinement. However, the bond with the winemaking tradition of the Ferraris family remains strong, to the extent that in 2010, the historic cellar was transformed into a family historical museum. Inside the museum, alongside historical tools of the trade, there's a spectacular "infernot" hand-carved into the tuff. The Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato Opera Prima Riserva by Ferraris is a red wine of outstanding quality and prestige, dedicated to the founder of the winery. It is a wine of the highest quality, representing the best of Ferraris' production. It is produced with selected Ruchè grapes grown in the Bricco della Gioia vineyard: here, soil, exposure, microclimate, meticulous care, and vineyard selection are the elements that give life to a unique and unparalleled wine. In the glass, it shows a beautiful intense and luminous ruby red color that reflects its great concentration and depth. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, fine spices, and rose petals. Minty tones and hints of aromatic herbs also emerge on the finish. On the palate, it is an elegant and refined wine, powerful and structured, characterized by a pleasant softness and a freshness that enhance its balance. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, very elegant. The Opera Prima by Ferraris can age for 20 years. It is perfect for special occasions or to pair with truffles, game, roasts, stews, braised dishes, and medium to long-aged cheeses.
