Often described as the “king of wines”, Barolo is a renowned red wine from the Piedmont region of northern Italy. It is considered one of Italy’s greatest wines.
Barolo is the perfect companion for complex and full-flavored foods. A classic pairing is with rich red meats such as beef or lamb. A hearty ragu with pasta will also pair with Barolo’s high acidity and richness as the wine brings balance to the dish. The high tannins and acidity of Barolo can offset the fattiness of the meat, while its complex, full flavors are perfectly complemented by strong flavors of the meat.
While it is not necessary for this Montegrosso Barolo, decant as many as six hours before consumption to allow this bottle’s amazing array of flavors open out and its tannins soften. Serve at around 62.6°F in a large, Bordeaux-style glass.
