Le Vigne di Sammarco ORMANERA Old Vines Salice Salentino Riserva DOP 2018

$33.30

Negroamaro is grown almost exclusively in Apulia, particularly in Salento – the peninsula forming the “heel” of Italy. The grape produces some of Apulia’s finest red wines, exemplified by Salice Salentino. The grape’s name, roughly translated as “black and bitter,” aptly describes its intense color and robust tannins.

After two weeks of fermentation, the wine aged for 8 to 10 months in second- and third-use French oak barriques. These older barrels soften the tannic structure without imparting excessive oak flavors.

Ormanera is a powerful red wine with firm, grippy tannins. The nose reveals youthful fruity aromas alongside mature notes of prune and mushroom. The palate echoes these notes and finishes dry with balanced freshness. Decant for up to one hour before serving.
